Patricia Bullrich Breaks with Mauricio Macri

The Minister of Security, Patricia Bullrich, has strengthened her alignment with Javier Milei, distancing herself from her past in the PRO and consolidating herself as a prominent figure of the libertarian government. Bullrich has had a solid political presence in the City of Buenos Aires for over 30 years, where she served as a national deputy in two terms (1993-1997 and 2007-2015).

In a definitive break with Mauricio Macri and her own political past, Bullrich has stated that all provinces must take responsibility for their own prisoners and jails, including the City of Buenos Aires. With this message, she clearly indicates her distancing from Macri and rules out any possibility of competing again in the City.

In a social media clash with the former president, Bullrich criticized the management of security in the City of Buenos Aires and the lack of infrastructure for detainees, amid a dispute with the national Government. In 2015, with Macri's victory, she was appointed Minister of National Security, consolidating her leadership in the PRO.

In 2023, she attempted to run for the presidency within Juntos por el Cambio, winning the internal elections against Horacio Rodríguez Larreta, but finishing third in the general elections with 23.8% of the votes. In 2007, she joined the Civic Coalition of Elisa Carrió and was elected again as a deputy for the City of Buenos Aires.

After her presidential defeat, she decided to break with the PRO and align herself with Javier Milei, who has appointed her again as Minister of Security. Her influence in the city has grown over time, making her one of the most relevant figures of the opposition during the Kirchnerist governments.

In 2003, she ran for the Head of Government of the City with her own party, finishing fourth with 9.72% of the votes. Bullrich urged Macri and Mauricio to set aside their personal interests and not to use the City as political loot.
